The consequences of a wet basement

The basement is the foundation upon which your home stands. Let that be precisely the place most subject to groundwater pressure. The result? Water penetrates more easily and you struggle with a wet basement that you can no longer use. Moreover, it also brings numerous serious consequences for your home and your health. We list the main consequences:

  • Damp walls reduce the insulating effect.
  • The evaporated moisture creates higher humidity, which creates a clammy, cold feeling. Moreover, that humidity provides the ideal breeding ground for mold, pests and fungi. Guests you'd rather not welcome in your home!
  • A musty smell spreads through your wet basement.
  • Drops appear on the pipes and on the ceiling.
  • Material damage appears on the surface: moisture spots, crumbling plaster ...
  • Stuff you store in the basement risks damage.

Treating your damp basement

With a wet basement, basement waterproofing is essential. We give you a clear overview of possible solutions.

Injecting Walls

When you are struggling with rising damp, the bricks in the wall draw the groundwater up through their capillary action. This indicates that the water barrier is absent or inadequate. Dry Plan resolutely opts for a long-term solution by injecting damp interior walls. We remove the finish coat, drill small holes close to the floor surface and inject an injection gel. The gel forms a horizontal barrier and completely repels rising moisture. We finish with a peak finish and leave everything spotless.

Basement drainage

Often the degree of seepage and water infiltration into the basement is so great that injection is not an appropriate solution. Yet we offer a lasting answer to your moisture problem, with effective basement drainage. What does that entail? We direct the moisture in the basement to a pump, which is connected to the drainage system. Depending on the nature and location of the moisture problem, there are several drainage applications to make the wet basement in Halle moisture-free.

Edge drainage

The junction where the basement floor and walls meet is called the bilge seam. When moisture infiltrates the bilge seam, edge drainage is an effective solution. From the bottom of the floor we mason a stone gutter, which has a waterproof cementing. Moisture that rises through the bilge seam immediately enters the gutter and is led directly to a collector. The collected water is then driven to a drain (e.g., the sewer) using a pump.

Floor drainage

We advance a floor drainage if moisture infiltrates the basement floor. In this case, we cover the floor with water-repellent layers, such as a bubble membrane. The membrane is characterized by its special structure, which leads the water through various channels to a collection well. In this pit we place a water pump, which is equipped with sensors and drains the water professionally. This is how we get rid of your moisture problem once and for all. On top of the bubble wrap we place a concrete floor, which completes your basement picture.

Wall drainage

Is moisture infiltrating your basement walls? Then we draw the map of wall drainage. We coat all the walls with a waterproof bubble membrane, which directs the water to a collection well. As with floor drainage, we provide a water pump with sensors. Thus, the water is propelled to the outlet. We invariably combine wall drainage with floor drainage, since moisture from the walls is drained through the floor. By coordinating both drainage techniques, we put an end to your wet basement in Halle once and for all.
